Introduction

The Applied Mathematics Research Centre is the mathematics and physics research vehicle of Coventry University. It is a dynamically growing group of researchers with a focus on two main strands of research, fluid dynamics and statistical and condensed-matter physics.

Research

Our research is focused on theoretical and experimental studies in statistical physics and fluid dynamics. In particular, subjects covered include

  • instabilities and transition to turbulence
  • turbulence
  • magnetohydrodynamics (MHD), electromagnetic flow control and metrology
  • geophysical flows
  • plasma flows
  • phase transitions and critical phenomena
  • disordered and glassy systems
  • complex networks
  • polymers and biophysics
  • econo- and sociophysics

More details can be found on the research pages.

People

The Centre currently comprises 12 permanent members of staff. We constantly supervise around 10 PhD students and a number of MSc projects. Please have a look at the member directory.

Contact

We are happy to discuss research ideas and proposals relating to our fields of expertise. Please email us at  info@complexity-coventry.org or consult the directory to contact individual members. Instructions on how to find us can be found here.
