Nikos Fytas in collaboration with Marco Picco (LPTHE, Paris) has just been granted an International Exchanges award of the Royal Society for overseas travel between Coventry and Paris. The main theme of research is the study of disordered systems at high dimensions and in particular of the random-field Ising model. The grant is in the value of around £6k over a period of one year and the research plan is hoped to help settle a number of long-standing questions around the critical behavior of such systems by an extensive study at several dimensions using efficient numerical and finite-size scaling methods at zero-temperature.
